Peenemünde · Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany
The municipality of Peenemünde lies at the very north of the Baltic Sea island of Usedom, north of the seaside resort of Karlshagen. Peenemünde became known for the Peenemünde Army Research Center, where the “V2” rocket was developed and tested. Attractions for visitors are the Historical Technical Museum Peenemünde (HTM) and the Maritime Museum Peenemünde with the submarine “Juliett U-461”. Hundestrand Peenemünde lies somewhat outside Peenemünde on the L264, which leads from Karlshagen to Peenemünde. A wide natural beach without tourist infrastructure awaits you. Long walks along the coast are possible here. The water is shallow and therefore also well suited for small dogs and children. Visitors describe the dog beach as expansive and quite wide. The dog beach is said not to be so crowded. A paid parking lot is located about 200 meters from the beach. Unfortunately, we were not yet able to check whether restrooms are available nearby. | Parking: approx. 200 meters | Beach fee person/dog: No/No | Beach/water conditions: sandy beach/shallow water
Leashes are required statewide at public events such as fairs, in shops and zoos, and anywhere you cannot easily avoid other people. Forests: leash required year-round. Cities and municipalities may set stricter rules; on buses and trains the transport operator's terms apply.
This is a simplified overview, not legal advice. For binding rules in 2026 where you live and walk your dog, contact your local authority (e.g. municipal public order office).
