Timmendorfer Strand · Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany
Niendorf an der Ostsee is a very well-known Baltic Sea seaside resort. The municipality's beaches are always very busy. The dog beach in Niendorf is located directly at the harbor entrance to the Niendorf harbor. You can expect a well-kept dog beach where you can rent beach chairs in season. It is not far to the spa promenade and the park “An der Acht”. The dog beach, which is relatively narrow, is separated from the other beach areas by a fence. Near the dog beach there are restrooms and a small snack bar. Visitors to the dog beach describe it as clean, but quite small. Overall, the interaction between the dogs is said to be relaxed. Many visitors are pleased that the access to the sea is shallow. This way, even dogs that don't like swimming so much can go into the water with their paws. In the off-season from October to the end of March, your four-legged friends are allowed on all beaches. In season, it is hard to find parking nearby. The nearest parking option is about 600 meters from the beach. The nearest beaches with dogs are the Timmendorfer Strand dog beach and the Mövenstein dog beach in Travemünde. | Parking: approx. 500 meters | Beach fee person/dog: Yes/No | Beach/water type: sandy beach/shallow water | Restrooms available: Yes | Food and drink: Yes | Wi-Fi at the beach: Unknown | Leash required on beach: No
Leashes are required statewide at public events such as fairs, in shops and zoos, and anywhere you cannot easily avoid other people. Forests: leash required year-round. Cities and municipalities may set stricter rules; on buses and trains the transport operator's terms apply.
This is a simplified overview, not legal advice. For binding rules in 2026 where you live and walk your dog, contact your local authority (e.g. municipal public order office).
