Dog Beach on the Brodtner Shore - Mövenstein Seaside Resort

Lübeck · Schleswig-Holstein, Germany

Description

This dog beach in Travemünde is the former Seebad Mövenstein. The seaside resort got its name from the Mövenstein, a boulder weighing about 50 tons. The dog beach lies in the first 100 m behind the former Seebad Mövenstein. This dog beach is a natural beach without further tourist infrastructure. Restrooms are available, however. Next to the dog beach lies the nudist beach. The sandy beach is separated from the water by a rock fill, the Söhrmanndamm. So that dogs can get over it, there is a special bathing jetty for dogs. A parking lot is about 400 meters from the Mövenstein dog beach. The nearest dog beaches are the Niendorf dog beach and the Travemünde Priwall dog beach. | Parking: approx. 400 meters | Beach fee person/dog: No/No | Beach/water type: sandy beach/stone embankment to the water | Restrooms available: Yes | Food and drink: No | Leash required at the beach: No

Breeding & nesting season (orientation)

In busy areas of Schleswig-Holstein, dogs must be leashed. In forests, dogs may only be taken along on a leash and on forest paths, year-round. On beaches with lots of bathers, dogs are banned from 1 April to 31 October except on designated dog beaches; municipalities may set different rules. Violations can be fined.

This is a simplified overview, not legal advice. For binding rules in 2026 where you live and walk your dog, contact your local authority (e.g. municipal public order office).
