Rettin Dog Beach

Neustadt in Holstein (Parkplatz) · Schleswig-Holstein, Germany

Description

Rettin is a district of Neustadt in Holstein, and the Rettin dog beach is a natural beach located in the southern part of the promenade (beach access 23). It extends over about 100 meters, and the water is shallow, as is typical for the Baltic Sea. Visitors report that, unfortunately, the dog beach is not cleaned the way is usual at the main beaches, so many stones and seaweed are often found. Unfortunately, the dog beach is not particularly large, so your four-legged friends have only limited room to romp around. Some visitors report that there are sometimes problems with surfers or kiters who ride into the swimming area of the dog beach. It is about 500 meters from the parking lot to the dog beach. A fee must be paid by all human visitors for using the beach. Food and drink options can be found in the direction of the main beach of Rettin. Other dog beaches are the Grömitz dog beach to the north and the Pelzerhaken dog beach to the south. | Parking: approx. 500 meters | Beach fee person/dog: Yes/No | Beach/water condition: sandy beach, stony/shallow, stony | Restrooms available: Yes | Food and drink: Yes | Leash required on the beach: No

Breeding & nesting season (orientation)

In busy areas of Schleswig-Holstein, dogs must be leashed. In forests, dogs may only be taken along on a leash and on forest paths, year-round. On beaches with lots of bathers, dogs are banned from 1 April to 31 October except on designated dog beaches; municipalities may set different rules. Violations can be fined.

This is a simplified overview, not legal advice. For binding rules in 2026 where you live and walk your dog, contact your local authority (e.g. municipal public order office).
