Nordstrand · Schleswig-Holstein, Germany
You will find a natural green beach in Nordstrand Fuhlehörn. Besides the regular bathing area, there is also Hundestrand Nordstrand Fuhlehörn. As is usual on the North Sea, the dog beach is a green beach consisting of a lovely dike meadow. The meadow is fenced in for the dogs, and in season beach chairs (Strandkörbe) can also be booked. At this dog beach, in the mudflats and on the dike, a leash requirement always applies to your dogs. The dog beach borders directly on the mudflats, and how much water there is on the coast depends on the tides. You can say that swimming is possible roughly two hours before and after high tide. If there is not much water at the moment, a long mudflat walk with muddy paws is a good option. Hundestrand Fuhlehörn is described by visitors as a quiet, uncrowded dog beach. For your culinary needs, you will find a snack bar nearby. In addition to restrooms, showers are also available. Directly behind the dike there is a parking lot. | Parking: approx. 300 meters | Beach fee person/dog: No/No | Beach/water conditions: grass/mudflats | Restrooms available: Yes | Dining: Yes | Wi-Fi on beach: Unknown | Leash required on beach: Yes
In busy areas of Schleswig-Holstein, dogs must be leashed. In forests, dogs may only be taken along on a leash and on forest paths, year-round. On beaches with lots of bathers, dogs are banned from 1 April to 31 October except on designated dog beaches; municipalities may set different rules. Violations can be fined.
This is a simplified overview, not legal advice. For binding rules in 2026 where you live and walk your dog, contact your local authority (e.g. municipal public order office).
