Büsumer Deichhausen Dog Beach

Büsumer Deichhausen · Schleswig-Holstein, Germany

Description

The seaside and recreational resort of Büsumer Deichhausen is located on the Schleswig-Holstein North Sea coast in Meldorf Bay. The dog beach is located to the left of the main beach in the direction of Wawerot. At the dog beach you have direct access to the mudflats, with more or less water depending on the tides. This dog beach is a green beach consisting of a lawn area. Day guests pay a visitor fee. Because the region belongs to the Wadden Sea National Park, a leash requirement unfortunately applies everywhere, even though dogs are shown in the water off leash even on the official homepage. Restrooms are located, for example, in the beach house. There you will also find the tourist information office and the beach chair rental. For emergencies, you can also get bags for the “dog business” at the beach house. Two-legged visitors can use the free Wi-Fi network throughout the beach area. | Parking: approx. 700 meters | Beach fee person/dog: Yes/? | Beach/water type: Grass/mudflats | Restrooms available: Yes | Wi-Fi: free in the beach area | Food and drink: Yes | Leash required at the beach: Yes

Breeding & nesting season (orientation)

In busy areas of Schleswig-Holstein, dogs must be leashed. In forests, dogs may only be taken along on a leash and on forest paths, year-round. On beaches with lots of bathers, dogs are banned from 1 April to 31 October except on designated dog beaches; municipalities may set different rules. Violations can be fined.

This is a simplified overview, not legal advice. For binding rules in 2026 where you live and walk your dog, contact your local authority (e.g. municipal public order office).
