Sellin · Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany
After Binz, Sellin is the most important seaside resort on the island of Rügen in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Sellin is known for its beautiful bathing bay and the long, fine sandy beach. The village is located in the east of the island. Particularly well known is the striking pier in Sellin, near which there is also a dog beach. From June 1 to September 30, your dogs are allowed on a leash on the beach promenade and at the dog beaches. At the other beach areas, dogs are prohibited during this time. Visiting the beaches in Sellin requires payment of a fee for people and dogs. | Parking: approx. 300 meters | Leash required at the beach: Yes
Leashes are required statewide at public events such as fairs, in shops and zoos, and anywhere you cannot easily avoid other people. Forests: leash required year-round. Cities and municipalities may set stricter rules; on buses and trains the transport operator's terms apply.
This is a simplified overview, not legal advice. For binding rules in 2026 where you live and walk your dog, contact your local authority (e.g. municipal public order office).
