Wohlenberg Dog Beach

Hundestrand Wohlenberg is located in the Bay of Wismar, in the Wohlenberger Wiek. The beach is occasionally also called Hundestrand Klütz, after the municipality it postally belongs to. It is a bay with many shallow-water zones with water depths under one meter, as well as a long, flat sandy coast with dunes. You will find Hundestrand Wohlenberg in the northern part of the beach. It is a natural beach with little tourist development around it. The sandy beach offers a lovely, far-reaching view over the Bay of Wismar. The water is shallow at the dog beach too, but algae wash up from time to time. Some visitors are bothered by the smell of the algae. Visitors to Hundestrand Wohlenberg describe it online as “perfect for letting your soul unwind” or as the last corner where the tourist crowds haven't stopped yet. The parking situation during the season seems to be a problem. A paid parking lot is available about 300 meters away. In season, the small parking lot fills up quickly and there are not enough spaces for all visitors. Near the pier (breakwater) there is a beach snack bar with fish from its own smokehouse, which also has options for people who don't eat fish. A restroom is available farther away. Beach chairs (Strandkörbe) cannot be rented at Hundestrand Wohlenberg.
