Address: Strandpromenade, 23746 Kellenhusen, Germany Kellenhusen offers you a total of three dog beaches. There is one dog beach in the northern area and two dog beaches in the southern area of Kellenhusen. Your dogs may romp around at all the dog beaches. From the beginning of November to the end of March, also at the other beaches. Otherwise, please keep your dog on a leash in the village, on the promenade, and in the forest. Below is an overview of the dog beaches in Kellenhusen: The northernmost dog beach in Kellenhusen is located at the DLRG lookout tower. A fine sandy beach and shallow Baltic Sea water await you. As is often the case on the Baltic Sea, the water is a bit stony. So don't forget your water shoes if necessary. In season, you can rent beach chairs at the Kellenhusen Nord dog beach. Restrooms, a kiosk, and a children's playground are also available nearby. A parking lot is about 200 meters away. Route planner The first dog beach in the southern area of Kellenhusen is located south of the pier near “Wassersport Kellenhusen”. At this beach section, too, you can rent beach chairs in season.
In busy areas of Schleswig-Holstein, dogs must be leashed. In forests, dogs may only be taken along on a leash and on forest paths, year-round. On beaches with lots of bathers, dogs are banned from 1 April to 31 October except on designated dog beaches; municipalities may set different rules. Violations can be fined.
This is a simplified overview, not legal advice. For binding rules in 2026 where you live and walk your dog, contact your local authority (e.g. municipal public order office).
