Graal-Müritz · Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany
The Baltic seaside resort of Graal-Müritz is located in the district of Rostock in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern on the Baltic Sea coast. The Baltic seaside resort of Graal-Müritz offers you no fewer than 4 dog beaches. That sounds very dog-friendly at first. Unfortunately, there is a major restriction at the dog beaches in Graal-Müritz: your dogs must be on a leash at the Graal Müritz dog beach as well. Here everyone has to decide for themselves whether it's still really a vacation with a dog if the dog has to be on a leash the whole time. Especially since there are many alternatives without a leash requirement on the Baltic Sea coast. The website of the Baltic health resort states that dogs can romp on the beach. How that works with a leash is unfortunately not stated. The leash requirement applies throughout the entire municipality of Graal-Müritz. From October 1 to March 31, you may also take your four-legged friends to the other beaches (on a leash). The four dog beaches are located at the following beach sections: Beach fee person/dog: Yes/No | Beach/water type: sandy beach/shallow water | Restrooms available: Yes | Food and drink: Yes | Leash required at the beach: Yes
Leashes are required statewide at public events such as fairs, in shops and zoos, and anywhere you cannot easily avoid other people. Forests: leash required year-round. Cities and municipalities may set stricter rules; on buses and trains the transport operator's terms apply.
This is a simplified overview, not legal advice. For binding rules in 2026 where you live and walk your dog, contact your local authority (e.g. municipal public order office).
