Hamburg · Hamburg, Germany
The Betty-Heine-Stieg dog park in Hamburg-Mitte is open 24 hours a day and is fenced in. It offers dogs a safe area to play and features shaded areas as well as parking. Visitors report that the area is small and occasionally dirty. There are indications that the park is not always used exclusively by dogs.
In Hamburg, a leash is required almost everywhere, including forests. Off-leash is only allowed in designated dog exercise areas or with an exemption from the leash rule, but in forests the leash rule applies even then. In some nature reserves, dogs are banned entirely. Follow the signs.
This is a simplified overview, not legal advice. For binding rules in 2026 where you live and walk your dog, contact your local authority (e.g. municipal public order office).
