Cottbus · Brandenburg, Germany
The dog park on Zimmerstraße in Cottbus is open 24 hours a day. It is not fenced in and is located next to a busy road, which poses a safety risk. The park is often overgrown with tall grass, which can be problematic during tick season. There is a bench and a trash can, but no poop bag dispensers. Its use is disrupted by many visitors without dogs.
In Brandenburg, dogs must be leashed in forests year-round (Section 15 of the state forest act); hunting dogs on a hunt are exempt. Violations can be fined. Outside forests, leash rules mainly apply in busy places such as events, pedestrian zones, fenced parks and public transport, plus local rules. Follow the signs.
This is a simplified overview, not legal advice. For binding rules in 2026 where you live and walk your dog, contact your local authority (e.g. municipal public order office).
