Wendisch Rietz · Brandenburg, Germany
The Wendisch Rietz dog beach is a fenced-in area by the water that is open 24 hours a day. The beach is shallow, but the water quality is not ideal due to reeds and rocks. Poop bags and trash cans are available, but there is no parking and no shade. Reviews are mixed; some users appreciate the cleanliness, while others find the conditions for dogs to be inadequate.
In Brandenburg, dogs must be leashed in forests year-round (Section 15 of the state forest act); hunting dogs on a hunt are exempt. Violations can be fined. Outside forests, leash rules mainly apply in busy places such as events, pedestrian zones, fenced parks and public transport, plus local rules. Follow the signs.
This is a simplified overview, not legal advice. For binding rules in 2026 where you live and walk your dog, contact your local authority (e.g. municipal public order office).
