The dog park in Osterholz-Scharmbeck City Park offers dogs the opportunity to run and play freely. The area is not fenced in, which some visitors find to be a drawback. There are shaded areas, but no special facilities or parking spaces. The field is surrounded by nature and is well-suited for walks. Despite the criticism, many dog owners appreciate the field as a place to give their pets freedom to move around.

From 1 April to 15 July, dogs must be leashed in open countryside, including when swimming.
