Karlsruhe · Baden-Württemberg, Germany
Otto-Dullenkopf Park in Karlsruhe offers a dog-friendly off-leash area that is open 24 hours a day. The area is easily accessible by public transportation and is located near Gottesaue Castle. There is a fence, but many visitors would like to see better signage, as the adjacent walking path is frequently used by joggers. Poop bags are available, and parking is nearby.
Baden-Württemberg has no statewide leash rule for the breeding season and no general leash requirement in forests. Your dog may only run free if you have it safely under control and can recall it at any time. In forests it must not run free near playgrounds, play and sunbathing lawns or water-treading facilities (administrative offence). Cities and municipalities may set their own rules, so follow signs and local bylaws.
This is a simplified overview, not legal advice. For binding rules in 2026 where you live and walk your dog, contact your local authority (e.g. municipal public order office).
