Norden Norddeich Dog Beach

The dog beach is currently being rebuilt. There is only an off-leash dog area without a beach. As soon as current photos and information are available, we will add them here (as of 06/2020). The new dog beach is scheduled to be completed in the first half of 2022. The district of Norddeich belongs to the town of Norden in East Frisia in the northwest of Lower Saxony. Besides the beach area, Norddeich also has a ferry port from which the ferries to the islands of Juist and Norderney depart. The district of Norddeich is separated from the North Sea and the Wadden Sea by a dike. The Hundestrand Norden Norddeich is located in a separate section and offers enough space for dogs to romp around. Right at the water there are beach chairs that can be rented. In the area of the beach chairs there is a lovely sandy beach. The beach and the village of Norddeich overall make a well-kept impression. For food and shopping, there is a choice of various shops, restaurants and snack bars. Nearby you will also find the "Ocean Wave" adventure pool, a mini golf course and a seal station. Paid parking lots are located either right at the dike or a bit farther from the beach (approx. 500 meters). The Hundestrand Norddeich used to be one of the most popular beaches on the Lower Saxony North Sea coast because there was no leash requirement on the beach (changed in 2019 – please always check beforehand whether there has been a change). In the Wadden Sea, of course, a leash is required here too, to protect the creatures living there. Since this place is very popular with vacationers with dogs, we recommend booking holiday homes or vacation apartments early. The dog beach of Norden Norddeich is located right next to the sandy beach and is approx. 2 hectares in size. The dog beach is one of the few beaches on the North Sea coast without a leash requirement. Unfortunately, this also means that it can get very crowded in peak season, with up to 200 dogs at the dog beach at times.
