Hamburg · Hamburg, Germany
The dog park in Hamburg-Mitte’s HafenCity is a fenced-in area that is accessible around the clock. The area is small and has little vegetation. There are a few holes in the ground that could be potentially dangerous for dogs. Despite the presence of a trash can, dog waste is often left behind. The park is a necessary place for dogs to run around in an urban setting, but it lacks proper maintenance and amenities.
In Hamburg, a leash is required almost everywhere, including forests. Off-leash is only allowed in designated dog exercise areas or with an exemption from the leash rule, but in forests the leash rule applies even then. In some nature reserves, dogs are banned entirely. Follow the signs.
This is a simplified overview, not legal advice. For binding rules in 2026 where you live and walk your dog, contact your local authority (e.g. municipal public order office).
