Hamburg · Hamburg, Germany
The dog park on Große Brunnenstraße in Hamburg-Altona is a fenced-in area where dogs can run free. It is centrally located, but the ground can be dusty or muddy depending on the weather. Some visitors have found broken glass, which can pose a safety hazard. Despite these shortcomings, the park is the only dog park in the area.
In Hamburg, a leash is required almost everywhere, including forests. Off-leash is only allowed in designated dog exercise areas or with an exemption from the leash rule, but in forests the leash rule applies even then. In some nature reserves, dogs are banned entirely. Follow the signs.
This is a simplified overview, not legal advice. For binding rules in 2026 where you live and walk your dog, contact your local authority (e.g. municipal public order office).
