Hamburg · Hamburg, Germany
Friedrichsberger Park in Hamburg-Nord features a dog-walking area that is open 24 hours a day. The lawn is not completely fenced in, but is bordered by a fence along the bike path. There is direct access to the water and a barbecue area nearby. Shaded areas are available. Some visitors have criticized the size of the area for larger dogs. Overall, visitors find the park to be a nice place for dog owners.
In Hamburg, a leash is required almost everywhere, including forests. Off-leash is only allowed in designated dog exercise areas or with an exemption from the leash rule, but in forests the leash rule applies even then. In some nature reserves, dogs are banned entirely. Follow the signs.
This is a simplified overview, not legal advice. For binding rules in 2026 where you live and walk your dog, contact your local authority (e.g. municipal public order office).
