Dog walking area Schöneiche bei Berlin

Breeding & nesting season (orientation)

In Brandenburg, dogs must be leashed in forests year-round (Section 15 of the state forest act); hunting dogs on a hunt are exempt. Violations can be fined. Outside forests, leash rules mainly apply in busy places such as events, pedestrian zones, fenced parks and public transport, plus local rules. Follow the signs.

This is a simplified overview, not legal advice. For binding rules in 2026 where you live and walk your dog, contact your local authority (e.g. municipal public order office).
