Hamburg · Hamburg, Germany
The Billwerder Billdeich dog park in Hamburg’s Bergedorf district is open 24 hours a day. The area is not fenced in and does not offer any special amenities. The park is located along a heavily trafficked hiking trail beside the Bille River, which can be problematic for dogs with a hunting instinct. There are play areas for children and benches for parents nearby.
In Hamburg, a leash is required almost everywhere, including forests. Off-leash is only allowed in designated dog exercise areas or with an exemption from the leash rule, but in forests the leash rule applies even then. In some nature reserves, dogs are banned entirely. Follow the signs.
This is a simplified overview, not legal advice. For binding rules in 2026 where you live and walk your dog, contact your local authority (e.g. municipal public order office).
